Police came to a house. I later learned it was a domestic disturbance. Apparently an ex-wife showed up to yell at her former husband, and the man was sufficiently disturbed by her communication to call the police. I did not learn any details about the encounter, but was told there was no physical aggression. The police arrived promptly.

I was on my way to the airport to pick up a family member one night.  It was drizzling and the drizzle was turning to icy conditions on the road.  I hit a patch of ice and slid across the road and hit a stop sign.  Upon going onto the curb, my tire must have his a nail and started losing air.  The police officer arrived and was extremely helpful.  Not only did he position his squad car to protect me from any oncoming vehicles from hitting me, but he called a tow truck to come and help me pull my car away from the sign and also change my tire for me.  He didn't give me a ticket, as I wasn't traveling fast enough to damage the stop sign.  He was extremely kind and helpful and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience.

Someone was biking and had gotten side-swiped by a car.  The car kept going.  The police arrived very quickly and checked to make sure the biker was ok, they were beat up but was doing alright.  The police were nice and kindly took the information about the car from what everyone could remember.  They asked people in the vicinity if they saw what had happened.

I was lost and was separated from my friends that are from the area.  I stopped a police officer and explained where I needed to go.  He got a map and showed me how to get there.  It was clear to him that I was nervous and uncomfortable with being lost.  He made me feel at ease and asked if I needed any help or felt unsafe getting there on my own.

I got pulled over because they said I took too long at the corner of Calumet and 35th. It was racially motivated because I am an old white woman trying to stop and visit a black friend at the nursing home and they thought I was looking around to buy drugs. My address was in Lake Meadows, and they approached while I was trying to parallel park on the left curb by the home's parking lot.  They were amazed that I lived in Lake Meadows and did not help me park either.

My friend and I were lost and needed directions so we asked an officer which way to Chicago Ave and the officer said he did not know. Definitely could have been worse, but I was shocked that officers in the city don't know where major intersections are. It really changed the way I think about the utility of police officers here.

I called the police on my roommate/tenant who I was evicting for not paying rent. The police took around 5-10 minutes to get there which wasn't too bad in my opinion. Once the police got there, though, all they could do was listen to each side of our stories and say "let the courts decide the issue", which was frustrating. However, it did seem like calling the cops had scared my roommate a bit and so she left for the next few weeks which was amazing. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions throughout it all.

This was years ago. I'm a white guy. I was walking to McDonald's pretty early in the morning when two black male police officers pulled up to the curb and called out "Yo Vanilla Ice". I stopped and asked are you talking to me? They got out of the car and asked what I'm doing. I told them I'm going to McDonalds. They asked me if I had any drugs on me. I said no. They said they are going to need to search me. They took all of my things out of my pockets and put them on the ground and they made me put my arms in a T while they frisked me. The worst part of the interaction was they pulled the front of my pants and looked down my pants. They then told me everything is ok and that I can go. I was furious. I was a younger guy so I didn't know what to do with myself so I just went to McDonalds and went home and I didn't do anything about it.

It was a traffic stop for a missing headlight. Which is fine because we knew it was out but the officer was insisting that the driver was also speeding when he was not, and I know he was not because we figured we would already be pulled over due to the headlight, so he made sure he was following all other traffic laws. We accepted the headlight was out, it wasn't necessary to try and say we were speeding too.
