Winner of UChicago's pitch competition
Excuse Me Officer is a digital accountability platform monitoring the productivity and effectiveness of Police Officers in Chicago, This past weekend Excuse Me Officer won the University of Chicago’s Law School’s South Side Pitch Competition, hosted by the IJ Clinic of Entrepreneurship. First place included winning $4,000 in funding, digital services and a new home at the Polsky Exchange Incubator.
The competition allowed a platform for business owners of companies benefiting the South Side of Chicago to compete in front of investors and their peers. The CEO of XMO, Channing Harris, made a compelling argument that the broken relationship could not be fixed until the CPD learned to hold their employees accountable for their actions. To assist in determining proper training, promotions and termination, #XMO is looking to capture more behavioral data on public interactions than ever before.
In 2016, we are plagued with the same requests for transparency and accountability that we asked for decades ago. Excuse Me Officer is hopes to bring the idea of community policing into the digital age.
